The Virtual Workhouse Project at Carleton College is led by Professor Susannah Ottaway and Professor Austin Mason. Professor Ottaway is a historian of eighteenth-century Britain specializing in the history of poverty and social welfare; she is responsible for overseeing the historical content of this project. Professor Mason is the Associate Director of the Humanities Center for Digital Humanities; he is in charge of digital modeling and design. A central feature of our work is an ongoing collaboration with Megan Dennis, the curator of the Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse Museum in Norfolk, in the U.K.
